The ACTS Church hosted its first Sabbath worship service at Curtin University on Sabbath 9 August 2008. Guest speakers included Nikki and Dave Slee, and Bruce McCourt also shared his personal testimony. The vision for ACTS was jointed presented by Nigel Kuzvinzwa and Sven Östring.
The ACTS student group at Curtin University held their first Sabbath worship service. After being registered recently with the Curtin Student Guild and participating in the annual Guild Day, ACTS leaders started planning their first church service, which was held in the Engineering Department, Building 204, Room 125. Guests from Avondale College, Nikki and Dave Slee, and Sydney University, James Etwell who is also the ASA President, joined the ACTS team as they planned the day. The worship service was attended by a number of non-Christian Curtin and UWA students. These students provided the key impetus for organising the church service at Curtin University. The topic of the worship service was "Meeting Jesus", and the presentations were all focused around the idea of meeting Jesus personally and responding to Him. Marike Joubert and Nigel Kuzvinza lead the music, with Ryan, Lynden and Sven adding the instrumental backing. Lydia and Marilyn lead an interactive Bible study on the parables of the lost sheep, lost coin and Prodigal Son. This was followed by a short DVD clip that focused on the question "Is God Really There?" Guests speakers Nikki and Dave Slee spoke on the theme "Meeting Jesus", followed by Bruce McCourt who shared his personal testimony. Finally, Nigel Kuzvinza and Sven Östring shared the vision for the ACTS Church. Overall, the Sabbath afternoon ended with a very positive vibe. |
