The Personal Challenge

Hey Everyone,

Just moments ago I was watching Boston Legal. I realise the show is highly fictitious but I found a comment made highly interesting. The comment made was that it is interesting how people can go from knowing someone deeply to not caring in a short period of time. I could not help but draw parallels to my own experience.

While I won't go into specifics about my personal situation, I have gone through a similar transition in the past year. My perspective of a close friend changed in a matter of days. Sometimes the way we see people can be changed almost immediately, either in a negative or a positive way. Our perspective shifts constantly, and sometimes it shifts entirely.

I have over the past year spent a lot of time thinking. The end result is that I have realised that my spiritual life directly correlates to my personal relationships with others.

If I have felt insecure about my personal life, I also have felt insecure about my relationship with God. In the end I have to ask my self a question. Where does God fit in my personal life?

Jesus said in Matthew 22:37 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."

Jesus then gives us some quick advice for when we do struggle with our lives. "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me." (John 14:1)

To truly follow this advice we must understand the link between God and our personal life.

To really have the love that Jesus speaks about, we must love with our Heart, our Soul, and our Minds. Then if we have trouble we must Trust in Him. These are all highly personal. Jesus wants us to make our love personal. In fact I would go so far as to say that it is impossible for us to love God without making it personal.

Don't be afraid to get personal. It may involve a total shift in perspective, or just a minor one, but we have a God who really wants to have a personal relationship with us. Not just a theoretical knowledge. He wants us to know Him personally.

I hope everyone has a great week.
